Gary V. Sheipline, 80, of Lakeview, died at 3:12 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at the Dublin Methodist Hospital, Dublin, from Covid-19 and other underlying conditions.
He was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Wapakoneta, the son of Virgil and Geraldine (Byrne) Sheipline, who preceded him in death, as well as a sister, Judith Ann Sheipline.
Survivors include, children: Denise McCanna, Wadsworth and Danny (Traci) Sheipline, Burbank, Ohio; grandchildren: Bryan (Makayla) McCanna, Jenna (Tyler) Buss, Taylor McCanna, and Magen Sheipline; great-grandchildren: Amelia McCanna, Jacen McCanna, Hadley Buss, and Carson Buss; a brother, Bruce (Mary) Sheipline, West Bloomfield, Mich.; a sister, Mary Margaret Link, Naples, Fla.; a nephew, Brian (Jill) Sheipline, and their children, Lucas, Nolan, and Wesley, Rochester, Mich.
Gary was a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph High School, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, both of Wapakoneta. After graduation, he had several retail and manufacturing jobs, including Montgomery Ward, Pepsi-Cola, and Westinghouse. Most of his life he worked primarily in the construction industry, including with Daniel’s Construction Co., for many years and in several states.
Gary had a great sense of humor and was a very outgoing individual who loved his family and friends. He particularly liked to socialize with his friends at the Indian Lake Moose Lodge. Gary loved fishing and NASCAR, particularly Dale Earnhart, as well as rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Wapak Redskins. Gary served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles, and the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, Wapakoneta. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dublin Methodist Hospital, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation, or another favorite charity.
