Gary Lee Kennedy, 66, of Rushsylvania, left this earthly world to be with his Lord on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Born Sept. 24, 1950, he was a son of the late Beryl Richard and Joan Kilgore Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; son, Jason (Valerie) Kennedy of Upper Arlington; grandsons, Grant and Colin; stepdaughters, Kellie (David) Cole and Mollie Brown, both of Hardin County; grandchildren, Mason, Brady, Darian and Afton; brother, John “Rick” (Bonnie) Kennedy of Rushsylvania; sisters, Deb (Mel) Roberts of Rushylvania and Becky (Herbert) Stevenson of Belle Center; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Kenton, where he shared his music talents with the worship team. Gary graduated from Buckeye Local High School in 1968 where he lettered in basketball and was affectionately given the nickname “Big Frog.” During high school Gary and his friends formed the rock band, The Four Strays, and he was lead singer and played bass guitar.
After graduation, he attended the Atlanta Broadcasting School in Atlanta, Ga. He was a military police officer with the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Gary retired from AEP in 2012 after working for 39 years as a lineman and supervisor. While growing up and as an adult, Gary was very involved with the family dairy farm. Most recently he was the Rushcreek Township zoning officer.
Gary will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
