Gail Ober Brunson of the Inn at Green Hills in West Liberty, and formerly of Bellefontaine, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019. He was 91.
Gail was the second son born to the late Floyd and Helen (McFadon) Brunson on March 25, 1928. Two brothers, Harold Brunson and Paul Brunson, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife and dear friend, Esther (Hurley) Brunson, whom he married on Sept. 10, 1957.
Gail is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends who considered him family, including the Daniel Eberly family of Ligonier, Ind.
A graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Gail went on to serve in the United States Army from 1950-1952 as a Private First Class. During his time in the service, Gail was awarded the Korean Service Medal Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal.
Upon return to civilian life, Gail was employed by Super Foods of Bellefontaine, where he was a logistics supervisor for over 40 years.
During this time, he and Esther enjoyed traveling the world and became increasingly interested in missions. Gail was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served on the missions committee for many decades.
Gail was a great lover of young people and was burdened for their salvation. He faithfully volunteered at Calvary Christian School after his retirement. Gail will be remembered for his love of beauty in art and music, his gift of good cooking for others, his determined spirit, and his great love for his dear wife and the Lord his Savior. His sacrificial attitude, humble spirit, and love for people will be greatly missed by all.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Ave., Bellefontaine. It will be followed by a cookie fellowship in the church fellowship hall.
