St. Clair, Chieftains bombard Braves
It was a game that will long live in Bellefontaine Chieftain football lore here Friday night.
In a matchup of 5-1 teams, Bellefontaine put on an offensive display of historic proportions in a 53-32 victory over Springfield Shawnee in a Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail division football clash.
The Chiefs piled up 592 total yards and a season-high eight touchdowns.
Leading the offensive explosion was sensational sophomore quarterback Tavien St. Clair, who broke two school passing records in the effort.
Pirates come alive in 2nd quarter to zap Cavaliers
Following a scoreless first quarter, Riverside exploded for 27 points in the second period and went on to take a 37-14 victory over visiting Lehman Catholic in a Three Rivers Conference football game Friday night.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Pirates, who are now 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the TRC. Riverside is currently tied for first in the league standings with Milton-Union.
Lehman drops to 2-5, 1-3.
“We put together a nice drive to start the game, but we turned it over in the red zone,” said Riverside head coach Bryce Hodge. “They made a nice play on an interception and we didn’t get the ball back until late in the first quarter. I was proud of the guys for getting dialed in in the second quarter. We were able to buckle down in the trenches and got our running game going.”
Tigers knock off West Jeff in big OHC North clash
West Liberty-Salem was able to grind out a huge Ohio Heritage Conference North division victory on Friday, relying on its defense and a couple of big passing plays for a 13-7 win over host West Jefferson.
The Tigers are now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the OHC. The Roughriders fall to 3-4, 0-2.
It was the fourth straight win for the Tigers, who find themselves in a first-place tie atop the OHC North with Northeastern after the first two weeks of league play.
Lakers unable to slow down Hillclimbers
Indian Lake could not get its offense on track and the defense struggled to stop Urbana on Friday as the host Hillclimbers ran away for a 41-0 victory in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division football game.
The Lakers drop to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the CBC. Urbana is now 5-2, 2-0.
Indian Lake mustered just 110 yards of offense, while Urbana had 313 total yards.
Wildcats claw Raiders 48-14 in Mad River matchup
North Union jumped out to a 27-7 lead at halftime and never looked back en route to a 48-14 victory over visiting Benjamin Logan in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division football game Friday night.
The Raiders drop to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the CBC, while the Wildcats move to 6-1, 2-0.
North Union outgained the Raiders 374-257 in total yards.
