Freda Mae Vermillion, 86, of Kenton and formerly of Belle Center, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton.
She was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Bellefontaine, a daughter of the late Melvin and Dora Levan Orahood.
On July 29, 1950, she married John L. Vermillion and he passed away Feb. 24, 1987.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Becky) Vermillion of Franklin, Tenn., Mark (Barb) Vermillion of Anderson, Ind., and Darren (Shannon) Vermillion of Kenton; daughters, Vickie (Lynn) Morgan of Ada and Jill (David) Kidd of Dayton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patty (Fred) Clark of Huntsville.
Freda also was preceded in death by a son, Todd; a daughter, Diane; a brother, Ike Orahood; and three sisters, Mary Levan, Jenny Ives and Juanita McCafferty.
Freda was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School and retired from United Technologies in Kenton. She was a member of the Belle Center Church of Christ and a past member of the Kenton Eagles Lodge 2163 Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies of the Kenton Moose Lodge 428.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Schindewolf Stout Crates Funeral Home, Kenton, where the Rev. Dean Wasson officiates a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18. Burial follows at the McDonald Fairview Cemetery.
