Franklyn Scott Shaffner, 78, of Urbana, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana, after a long struggle with cancer.
He was born in Champaign County, on Oct. 20, 1939, a son of James L. and Mary Elizabeth Frost Shaffner. Scott served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959 in the 38th Engineer Company. He retired from the former D.A.B. in Bellefontaine and enjoyed doing handyman work.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Angel) Shaffner of Quincy, and Jamie Shaffner of West Liberty; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, his dog, Oscar.
He was preceded in death by an adopted daughter, Cari Ann Shaffner; and brothers, Art Shaffner and Dick Shaffner.
The memorial service is at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in the Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana, following calling hours that begin at 5 p.m.
