McCARTNEY |
As a young sports journalist, Cory McCartney had two dream goals he wanted to accomplish. He has yet to reach the age of 40, but has already checked off both of those achievements.
“I had always wanted to write for Sports Illustrated and I wanted to do at least one book,” said the former Examiner writer.
A Bellefontaine native, Mr. McCartney left the Examiner in 2005 to take a job for Sports Illustrated’s website. He wrote on-line columns and stories and also had some of his work featured in the magazine version of SI.
While with Sports Illustrated, he was asked to be a weekly guest on the Big Ten Network’s “Big 10 and Beyond” television show.
He enjoyed the time in front of the camera, and after seven and a half years with SI, he took a position with the Fox Sports South television network.
He handles online content for FSS and also appears on many of the pre-game Atlanta Braves telecasts. A lot of his time is spent covering the Braves, leading to an opportunity to write a book.
