Another avenue to provide reduced response times for critically ill or injured people will open up in Logan County this spring.
Mary Rutan Hospital, Robinaugh EMS and MedFlight have partnered to base a FlyCar unit at Robinaugh’s headquarters, 10 Hunter Place, Bellefontaine.
The FlyCar unit consists of a critical care nurse and critical care paramedic that will join an EMT driver from Robinaugh to create a mobile intensive care unit when critical patients can’t be flown because of weather or when it’s appropriate to use ground transportation to get to a higher level of care.
“We are excited to be able to bring this level of service to the area,” said Darin Robinaugh, president of Robinaugh EMS. “We have always had a great relationship with both Mary Rutan Hospital and MedFlight and having a MICU available will allow us to get these critical patients transferred sooner.”
The FlyCar service will be staffed 12 hours a day, seven days a week and will provide critical care transportation of patients to MRH and other hospitals as necessary.
