Indian Lake remains among the most popular destinations anywhere in Ohio for year-round fishing opportunities for novice and veteran anglers alike.

And experienced locals are not shy about offering tips and tricks to folks looking for any one of the variety of species of fish that can be found throughout the 5,100-acre lake, said David Harshbarger, who owns Lakeside Pro Bass Shop on the north side of the lake across from Old Field Beach.
Harshbarger recently published an updated map of the lake, color-coded with where to find five of the most prominent species of fish in the lake. The map is based on his experiences and anecdotal evidence shared by anglers who come near and far to visit the store in search of supplies and advice, he said.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources stocks the lake annually with millions of saugeye — a hybrid fish mix of sauger and walleye. Saugeye are about the most popular fish for anglers to go after, and can be caught throughout the year, regardless of weather.
