Two defendants were arrested and charged with possession of drugs Tuesday, March 12, following a traffic stop executed by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department around 2:56 p.m. in the area of eastbound Eaton Street near the intersection of north Troy Road and west Columbus Avenue.
Kyle Poe, 31, and Brittney Mustain, 29, both of Bellefontaine, were each charged with possession of drugs, a third-degree felony. Officers on patrol observed a vehicle operated by Poe with improper display of vehicle registration and initiated the stop. The vehicle had a temporary tag half-taped to the rear windshield, officers report.
Upon making contact with Poe, and his front-seat passenger, Mustain, police learned that neither occupant possessed a valid driver’s license. A strong odor of marijuana also was present in the vehicle and the defendants admitted there were burnt roaches and marijuana inside the vehicle.
A probable cause search was conducted and behind the glove box officers also identified multiple baggies containing white pills, separated for potential sale or distribution. In all, about 85 total pills of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone were located inside the car. A scale with marijuana residue also was found inside the car.
Officers were unable to weigh the pill baggies immediately because a large enough scale was not immediately available. THC cartridges and assorted strains of marijauana were recovered from the vehicle also. Both defendants were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
