Henry E. Sexton, 52, of Harrod, and his son, Bryan T. Brenner, 26, of Forest, each was charged with possession of methamphetamine and forgery as a result of a traffic incident Friday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at 6 p.m. to the area of the Sunoco gas station, 13840 N. State Route 235 on a report of a reckless driver. Deputies initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle at the gas station.
The male driver, later identified as Sexton, exited the vehicle and walked into the gas station when deputies arrived. Deputies made contact with a male and female passenger, and then located Sexton inside the gas station and confirmed he had a suspended license.
Deputies received information that Sexton may have gotten rid of drug items inside the store, and a Waynesfield Police Department K9 unit responded to the scene. The K9 alerted on several items, including $410 cash that was found in a cooler area where Sexton had been, along with a prescription pill bottle with Sexton’s name with plastic baggies and a crystal substance inside, several torch lighters, a knife, two nine-volt batteries and a digital scale with white residue.
Also inside the vehicle, deputies located an additional $260 in cash. Staff members at the gas station determined that all of the cash that was located by deputies were counterfeit bills.
Sexton and Brenner each was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail. The female passenger, Rachel J. McGrath, 34, of Kenton, also was arrested on warrants and transported to the jail.
