Fairbanks’ girls basketball team used a strong first half to wear down visiting Triad for a 56-44 victory Wednesday in non-league action.
The Panthers improve their record to 6-15 overall, while the Cardinals slide to 5-14 on the season.
Fairbanks raced out to a 17-6 lead after the opening quarter and outscored Triad 21-12 in the second quarter. That gave the Panthers a 20-point cushion (38-18) at halftime.
The Cardinals kept themselves in the game with a 16-6 run in the third quarter, but still trailed 44-34. The Panthers edged Triad 12-10 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Jenna Ober paced the Cardinals with 17 points. Lydia Walls had 12 points and Alea Ferguson added 10 points.
Fairbanks also won the junior varsity game 51-27. Makenzie Cauley and Audrey Lightle each had eight points to lead the Cardinals.
Triad travels to Cedarville tonight for an Ohio Heritage Conference game.
