A suspect was jailed Saturday night for illegally shooting off fireworks, including one that struck and burned an 11-year-old passerby.
Officers from the Washington Township Police Department report Brad Clem, 32, of 9028 Park St., Lakeview, was shooting fireworks off on his property about 9:30 p.m. when an errant pyrotechnic struck the boy in the area of his shoulder and bicep.
Indian Lake EMS responded to the scene and treated the victim for second-degree burns.
A verbal confrontation ensued between the suspect and the boy’s father, who was walking alongside him. The suspect reportedly also made threatening comments to the boy’s father, who eventually contacted law enforcement.
Further investigation revealed law enforcement has twice previously responded to that address regarding illegal fireworks.
Clem was charged with menacing and persistent disorderly conduct, and was lodged in Logan County Jail.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
