When Linda Hauck first became involved with the Discovery Riders in 2007, the nonprofit organization’s future looked bleak.
It was on the verge of closing up operations, but Hauck jumped in to help raise money for the therapeutic riding and equine assistance learning program.
Her passion for the work grew, and over the next 10 years, she began talking with her husband Rick about creating a state-of-art facility and establishing a financial plan to sustain the work into the future.
“We had always talked about doing this,” Rick Hauck said, “and she had a lot of input on the design.”
Unfortunately, Linda Hauck died in February after battling cancer, but her dream lives on and will come to fruition this year.
Saturday, at the Hauck residence at 1880 County Road 9, there will be a ground breaking ceremony for the Linda Laine Hauck Equestrian Center as part of the Discovery Riders’ Fourth Annual Night at the Races Fundraiser.

Tickets for the fundraiser are available at www.DiscoveryRiders.com or by calling (937) 935-6545.
The event is limited to individuals 21 and older and the cost is $50 per ticket.
Money raised during the event will go to support the mission of Discovery Riders, not for the new facility.
Those costs are covered by Linda Hauck’s family.
“This is the vision Linda had,” Rick Hauck said. “It’s exciting to see it come true.
“My family is committed to building the facility and providing the space for the Discovery Riders.
We’re just trying to pay forward.”
