Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office spoke Monday with the mother of an 11-year-old boy who said the boy’s father, a 30-year-old West Liberty area resident, had struck him in the arm.
The mother said she has custody of the child, but her son has visitation with his father every other weekend.
The boy told his mother that Sunday morning, his father had accused him of being lazy and then got in his face and shoved his knee into the boy’s knee. The boy stated he punched his father in the groin area because he felt threatened, and then the father punched him in the arm. Deputies obtained photos of bruising to the boy’s arm/elbow area.
Deputies spoke with the father, who stated his son had been sitting too close to the TV, so he picked up the child’s chair, and the boy punched him in the groin. The father admitted he had punched the boy in the arm.
A report has been forwarded to Logan County Children’s Services and the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for review and determination of charges.
