Edward Peter Nydam, 89, of Urbana, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, in his residence.
He was born March 31,1929, in Whitinsville- Northbridge, Mass., a son of the late Peter and Gladys Orff Nydam. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ed was a jack of all trades and liked to call himself “Mr. Fix- it.” He enjoyed reading, playing cards with extended family and friends, and riding his bicycle. Ed and Sandy and their dog, Carney traveled in a motorhome for recreation, and after retirement traveled to 49 states. They covered the 50th state Hawaii on their honeymoon 41 years ago.
Ed is survived by his wife, Sandra F. Nydam; daughters, Debbie (Denis Burgess) Robison and Judy Nydam; son, Allen Nydam; grandchildren, Shannon Nydam and Samantha Robison; brothers, Ronald Nydam and Paul Nydam; sister, Barbara (Bob) Knaack; and his extended family.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Nydam; two sisters; and three brothers.
Memorial services begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, following calling that begins at 1 p.m. Pastor Chuck Samson officiates.
