Edward O. Elliott II, 69, of Mt. Victory, died at 9:13 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at The OSU James Cancer Center.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1946, in Kenton, to the late Edward O. and Frances Irene Willauer Elliott. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carleigh Frances Rader; stepmother, Glenna Jean (Francis) Elliott; and a brother-in-law, Roger Burrey.
On June 24, 1967, he married Rosalie Shroyer and she survives in Mt. Victory, along with two daughters, Traci (Brian) Rader of Mt. Victory and Courtney (Tim) Kiper of Kenton; one son, Edward Scott (Erin) Elliott of Mt. Victory; six grandchildren, Alexis, Ashtin and Alivia Elliott, Mackenzie Rader and Jeanalie and Willow Kiper; four sisters, Carol Burrey, Joan Wagner and Lynn (Michael) Shuster, all of Mt. Victory, and Constance (George) Ulrich of Asheboro, N.C.; sister-in-law, Donna (Steve) Bell of Ridgeway; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a partner in the Plaza Inn restaurant, Hardin Motors and the family farm. He also was a licensed insurance agent for Dana L. Baker Insurance.
He was a 1964 graduate of Ridgemont High School and 1968 graduate of Bowling Green University, with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He also was a U.S. Army veteran.
He served as a Hardin County Commissioner from 1996-1999 and from 2009 to present. He was a member of the county, state and national levels of the Soil and Water Conservation District, Ohio Restaurant Association, Hardin County Farm Bureau, Hardin Memorial Hospital Board and the Hardin County Republican Party. He also was a member of the Mt. Victory United Methodist Church, Delta Upsilon Fraternity and a was a former Hale Township Trustee. He was active in many other community and national organizations.
Ed loved spending time with his family, fishing, and was a generous and caring man.
A celebration of life is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at Ridgemont School Commons in Mt. Victory, followed by a memorial service with Pastor Steve Hess officiating in the Ridgemont gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Victory United Methodist Church, Not By Choice, God’s Lifeline, Hardin County Fair Foundation and to the Elliott Family Scholarship Fund for Ridgemont School at Mt. Victory State Bank, P.O. Box 67, Mt. Victory OH 43340.
