An alleged intoxicated driver and the owner of a parked vehicle both were arrested on drugs violations after a Sunday afternoon crash in the 500 block of south Park Street, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
Kyle S. Hatmaker, 33, of 6299 State Route 287, West Liberty, was southbound on Park when he veered right and struck a parked vehicle owned by Paul M.D. Anderson, 25, of 536 S. Park St. The collision forced the Anderson vehicle about 15 feet forward and Mr. Hatmaker’s car rolled onto its side.
When officers and responders from the Bellefontaine Fire Department arrived, Mr. Hatmaker reportedly was standing up and disoriented inside the car. He said he was at a friend’s house about 200 feet from the crash, but did not recall leaving.
En route to Mary Rutan Hospital, he was found in possession of marijuana residue and a device for smoking marijuana and was subsequently charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to control and no seat belt.
