In an effort to address the safety and economic threat of drug abuse in the workplace, the Logan County Chamber of Commerce is working with business and community stakeholders and Working Partners to launch the Drug-Free Workforce Community Initiative.
Logan County is one of 18 communities participating in a statewide initiative.
A critical element of the initiative is the collection of data to assess business perceptions, attitudes, knowledge and practices as they relate to preventing and addressing substance abuse in the workplace and workforce.
Initiative leadership will begin collecting data through the Business and Community Leader Surveys.
Data collection will take place through March. Survey data will be supplemented with secondary data and used to compile a community report that will guide the effort to develop a strong, drug-free workforce.
“We realize that these surveys will provide critical data for our community report and we are working hard to get input from as many meaningful respondents as we can,” said Paul Benedetti, the chamber’s president/CEO. “This data will help bring to light the issues we face in our community and help us tackle this issue in a focused way and have true impact.”
He said the surveys will be mailed yet this week.
The chamber encourages anyone who receives the survey to fill it out and return it as quickly as possible.
