Mason M. Diener, 24, of Huntsville, was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries sustained in a crash about 6:35 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound 2013 Acura TL on State Route 540 near County Road 25 when he lost control and slid off the left side of the road, striking a guardrail, a concrete culvert and numerous trees.
The car sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. Diener was cited for failure to control and was wearing his seat belt, deputies report.
Trio charged after burglary in progress call
Two suspects, James R. Green, 33, of Piqua and Lauren E. Bryant, 21, of Greenville, each were charged with burglary, and a third individual, Logan T. Richard, 17, of Bradford was charged with criminal trespass related to a burglary in progress call Sunday afternoon.
Deputies responded about 3:15 p.m. to 1512 Township Road 229, DeGraff. The property owner said he passed his residence and noticed a vehicle in the driveway. As the property owner drove up the driveway, he noticed a male and female subject running out of the garage.
Upon deputies’ arrival, all three defendants were sitting in their vehicle. The driver was identified as Logan, and he told deputies that the trio were out looking for “garage sales.”
Deputies separated the three individuals for interview purposes, and Logan maintained that he never left the vehicle when they stopped at the residence.
Bryant told deputies that she needed to use the restroom and that’s why they stopped at the residence so she could urinate.
Deputies were provided consent to search the vehicle, and they found a battery-operated sawzall with no blade; a digital scale; a bag containing a bottle cap with suspected methamphetamine residue and a syringe; and a trash bag with meth pipes and a bag with suspected cocaine residue.
All three defendants were placed under arrest and each were also charged with felony counts of possession of drugs.
Bryant and Green were lodged in the Logan County Jail, while Logan was lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center. At the JDC, deputies said Logan turned over two containers that he had hidden in his underwear that had suspected meth and also marijuana residue.
Pair lodged for possession of meth
Jessica M. Smith, 40, and Irvin G. McFarlin, 41, both of Celina, each were charged with possession of methamphetamine related to a traffic stop about 4:15 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies on patrol in the area of county roads 1 and 5 observed a stop sign violation with the vehicle and initiated the stop.
The driver, Smith, told deputies that they were coming from Columbus on their way to Celina, taking back roads. Deputies said both parties appeared nervous and that the passenger, McFarlin, appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant.
Deputies conducted a consent search of the vehicle and recovered a straw with white residue inside Smith’s purse and also a baggie with suspected crystal meth located underneath the passenger seat. The substance field-tested positive for meth and deputies said its preliminary weight was recorded at 4.0 grams, which is over the bulk amount.
Both defendants were placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
