Driver Kodi T. Smotherman, 24, of 178 Market St., Lakeview, and his passenger, Travis Ramos, 19, of 441 W. Chillicothe Ave., Bellefontaine, each was issued several charges during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report the traffic stop was initiated about 3:40 p.m. in the 200 block of State Route 720 in Lakeview, after a registration check showed that the vehicle owner did not have a valid license.
During the stop, Mr. Smotherman admitted that he had a grinder and a marijuana cigarette in the center console of the vehicle. Deputies also located an open can of beer in the vehicle.
The driver was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He also was cited for no operator’s license and driving under suspension.
When questioned by deputies, Mr. Ramos reportedly providing a false name and birthday. After a brief investigation, deputies determined that he had a Logan County Common Pleas warrant for his arrest.
Mr. Ramos was issued a summons for obstruction of official business and identity theft, and was transported to the Logan County Jail on the warrant.
Burglary investigated at pizza shop
Deputies responded to Jac ‘N’ Do’s Pizza, 302 W. Main St., Russells Point, about 11 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a break-in.
They spoke with the business owner, who reported he had arrived at the store that morning and found a front door window had been broken with a rock. He also reported that money had been removed from a cash register drawer.
