A motorist and his passenger were charged after a 6:50 p.m. traffic stop Sunday at Columbus Avenue and Pratt Street.
Driver Nathan A. Wilson, 23, of 222 S. Main St., Apt. A, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for no front license plate, while passenger Blake M. Wisswell, 25, of 218 S. Detroit St., was charged with possession of marijuana and marijuana drug paraphernalia.
While standing at the driver’s open window, the officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department detected odors of marijuana and alcoholic beverage. He also reported Wilson’s eyes were extremely dilated which is consistent with marijuana usage. The motorist also exhibited slow, methodical motor skills.
Wilson participated in field sobriety tests which indicated he was impaired by marijuana. He provided a urine sample for testing.
Liquid marijuana and a vape pipe for smoking it was located in a passenger door pocket next to Wisswell’s seat in the car. He admitted the items were his.
Police arrest drunken man
William L. Johnson, 50, of Bellefontaine, was charged Saturday with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and persistent disorderly conduct.
Around 10:15 p.m., officers learned from his girlfriend, Monica Munger, of the same address, and Twyla Carter and Brent Johnson, both of 624 N. Detroit St., that the defendant became argumentative and abusive toward the others after an evening of drinking alcohol. He was told to leave 624 N. Detroit, but not return to his residence.
Officers observed the defendant continue to argue with the witnesses. Officers believed he was too intoxicated to care for himself and posed a threat to the witnesses.
He tried to pull away from officers as they acted to arrest him. After he was handcuffed, he began to spit so officers put a spit hood on him.
His belligerent behavior continued at the Logan County Jail and he was placed into a restraint chair.
