Kevin Bradley, 40, of Kenton, was charged Monday with theft of motor vehicle and OVI and cited for driving under suspension, failure to drive in the marked lanes and slow speed after a 3:55 p.m. traffic stop Monday.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were alerted by witnesses that the suspect was southbound on north Main Street traveling extremely slow. At Main and Auburn Avenue, he sat for 14 seconds after the light turned green before proceeding.
As he continued, he was unable to keep the vehicle in the lanes of the road. He continued to drive even after officers activated overhead lights and sirens. He drove to 1020 S. Main St. and parked.
Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol while talking with him and reported his movements were slow, his speech was slurred and he had trouble following simple commands.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol and breathalyzer tests came back at more than 0.27.
Officers contacted the vehicle’s owner and she filed a theft complaint against the motorist.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
