SPRINGFIELD — A motorist was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck on Interstate 70 in Clark County.
Jimmy L. Carnegie, 66, of Englewood, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was eastbound about 1 p.m. on I-70 in the right lane when the vehicle he was driving was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer driven by Abdirashid O. Farah, 39, of Columbus, according to troopers from the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Impact from the crash sent the vehicle Carnegie was driving into the left lane of travel. The vehicle caught fire and became engulfed in flames after Carnegie had been removed.
Injuries to the semi truck driver were minor. I-70 was closed for about three hours.
Fire departments from Bethel and Mad River townships responded. Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation also assisted.
