Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a single-vehicle injury crash about 2:35 a.m. today in the 2700 block of north U.S. Route 68.
Eric Berry, 46, of Bellefontaine, reportedly was extracted from his vehicle by firefighters and medics of the Bellefontaine Fire & EMS Department. He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital and then transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of incapacitating injuries.
Troopers report he was operating a southbound pickup on U.S. 68 when he lost control and slid off the right side of the road and struck three trees. Damage was disabling to the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation, and no citations have yet been issued. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as factors in the crash.
