OVI filed after driver runs out of gas
Nathan G. Daughenbaugh, 40, of Carey, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs following an incident Tuesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 8:15 p.m. to the area of U.S. Route 68 near County Road 57 on a report of a vehicle that was parked on the road.
A passerby had talked with the driver and noted that the driver seemed confused and that he had run out of gas.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they located the vehicle, but the driver was no longer there. A short time later, Mr. Daughenbaugh arrived in another vehicle and said he received assistance getting gas.
Deputies observed that the defendant displayed signs of intoxication, but he refused to take field sobriety tests. At the Logan County Jail, he tested a 0.127 blood alcohol content level.
He also was cited for an expired vehicle registration and an expired driver’s license. His vehicle was towed from the scene. Deputies note that the defendant has three prior OVI convictions.
