Dominic R. Gaetano, 19, of Marysville, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs relating to a crash Saturday evening on U.S. Route 33.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of U.S. 33 westbound near County Road 37 about 8:15 p.m. on a report of a single-vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle off the right side of the road with heavy front end damage. The driver, Gaetano, told deputies he believed he had blacked out while he was driving. He stated he had recently had his wisdom teeth removed and he knew he should not have been driving. He said he had taken his prescribed medication prior to driving.
A witness to the crash said she observed Gaetano’s vehicle travel off the right side of the road and strike several signs before coming to a rest.
Huntsville EMS arrived on the scene and transported the driver to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies recovered suspected marijuana and THC, along with prescription medications.
Deputies also spoke with the defendant at the hospital and he agreed to submit to a urine test, with test results pending. He also was cited for no seat belt and failure to control.
Man charged with resisting arrest
Terrance M. Kipker, 37, of 160 Burkhart Ave., Apt. C, Russells Point, was charged with resisting arrest Saturday evening.
Deputies and a Russells Point Police Department officer responded about 7 p.m. to 409 N. Detroit St., Bellefontaine, in attempt to serve an arrest warrant on Kipker. The warrant was for bond revocation on two felony counts felonious assault and two counts of domestic violence.
Deputies said Kipker opened the door when law enforcement arrived at the home. However, after being asked to step outside and being informed of his warrant, he informed deputies that he was not going anywhere and retreated back inside the home.
Deputies took the defendant to the ground and said he failed to comply with multiple orders to stop resisting and place his hands behind his back. He was warned that if he continued to keep resisting, a Taser would be deployed on him.
The Taser was deployed on Kipker and then deputies were able to place him in handcuffs. He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
