Harold W. Brown, 64, of Marion, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was issued a summons for possession of marijuana related to an incident Sunday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a report about 8:15 p.m. regarding a customer who was possibly intoxicated at the Russells Point Village Pantry gas station. The man had left the gas station, headed eastbound on U.S. Route 33.
Deputies located the vehicle in the area of U.S. 33 and State Route 274 and observed that the driver could not maintain his speed and also was weaving in his lane. A traffic stop was initiated in the area of U.S. 33 and Township Road 221.
Prior to deputies exiting the patrol vehicle during the stop, the defendant reportedly exited his vehicle and began approaching the cruiser. Deputies observed that he showed signs of intoxication and he told them he had consumed several beers that evening.
He submitted to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Inside his vehicle, deputies located marijuana cigarettes in the center console and cupholder.
At the Logan County Jail, Brown submitted to a blood alcohol content test, with results pending. He was released to a sober person.
