David Williams, 39, of Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during a traffic stop Monday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 8:30 p.m. in the area of US. Route 33 and Township Road 239 spotted a vehicle traveling with its bright headlights lights on. Officers tried to flash the driver as the vehicle passed, but the driver would not dim the lights.
Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Williams, who showed signs of impairment.He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.
The defendant also was cited for a 12-point suspension, non-compliance suspension and no driver’s license. He was then transported to the Logan County Jail.
