As a former Ohio State and NFL football player, there were many lucrative outlets for Roy Hall to pursue when his playing days were done. But he chose a path away from the limelight.
As the co-founder of the Driven Foundation, Hall has made a career out of making a difference in the lives of young people.
He has brought his work to Logan County, driving an hour each way from his Columbus home to spend about an hour each week for 10 weeks as a mentor for a group of Bellefontaine Middle School students.
Hall is being assisted by former OSU defensive back Tyler Everett and Allen Huffman, a member of the Bellefontaine Police Department who serves as a resource officer at BMS.
“One of the things Coach (Jim) Tressel preached to us was preparing yourself for a life after football,” said Hall. “The power of Ohio State football is huge. I want to use that power as a platform to change lives.”
Hall has done mentoring work at schools around Ohio. It is just one of the programs the Driven Foundation has created to help those in need.
The foundation also conducts charity basketball games, hosts football camps and serves food to the hungry.
