Dorothy Marie (Lombardo) Vicario, 93, of Bellefontaine passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020.
She was born on July 25, 1927 in Columbus, the daughter of the late John J. and Antoinette M. (Iannarino) Lombardo.
She married Joseph S. “Weetie” Vicario on July 31, 1950 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Columbus. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother Ann Lombardo, four brothers: Johnny, Dickie, Donnie, and Danny Lombardo, her son, Tony P. Vicario, granddaughter, Leiah R. Croston, a great grandson, Archer J. Foss, and a daughter-in-law, Karla Vicario.
She is survived by seven children: Patty (Craig) Lambright, Joseph Vicario, Jr., Susan Vicario, Mary (Tim) Smith, Kathy (Brad) Entsminger, Karen (Brian) Croston, and John Vicario, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Vicario, her grandchildren; Tina (Lester) Lambright-Foss, Jamey (Hyo Shim) Lambright, Scott Lambright, Kelly (Vinay) Lambright-Mutthamsetty, Ashley Vicario-Holtkamp, Anthony Vicario, Andrew Vicario, Timothy (Jenny) Smith, Julia (Adam) Smith-Paine, Thomas Smith, Jessica Smith, Jennifer (Devin) Entsminger-Butler, Matt Entsminger, Joseph Vicario, Michael Vicario, Ryan Vicario, Anthony Vicario II, Shane Croston, Kylie Croston, Devyn Croston, and her great grandchildren; Colin Foss, Amelia Foss, Hannah Lambright, Hailey Lambright, Karly Holtkamp, Alex Holtkamp, William Holtkamp, and Liam Smith.
Dorothy graduated from Rosary High School in Columbus and in her early years, she worked market and kept books for the John Lombardo Celery Company. She enjoyed playing baseball, horseraces, bowling, Bingo, picnics, attending family sporting events, the Ohio Lottery, watching the Cincinnati Reds, but especially playing cards with the family. She looked forward to big family gatherings and keeping all who visited well fed.
Dorothy was a devoted parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church for 70 years and participated in the church’s bazaar group and St. Theresa’s Study Club. Dorothy will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. where a Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine. Father Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 am at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bellefontaine. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Bellefontaine.
