A funeral service for Doris M. Johnston, 89, of Mt. Victory will be at noon Monday, Nov. 9, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory with Pastor Douglas Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow at Hale Cemetery just outside of Mt. Victory. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She died on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at Green Hills Inn Assisted Living in West Liberty.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1931, in Urbana to the late Paul and Mabel (Barger) Young. She married Neil Johnston on March 27, 1971, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2009.
Surviving are a son; Robert (Judy) Painter of Bellefontaine, a step-son; Jerry (Debbie) Johnston of Tiffin, four grandchildren; Rob (Denise) Painter, Paul (Terri) Painter, Jared (Sarah) Johnston, Alissa (Jamie) Schreger, 12 great-grandchildren, and special friends; Connie Fay and Craig and Darla Shaw.
She was preceded in death by a sister; Jamey Hunter.
Doris was a homemaker and a hard working farm wife. She was a member of the Hardin County Farm Bureau along with her husband.
She was also a member of the Mt. Victory Methodist Church where she was involved with the Women’s Society and the church choir, because she loved to sing.
If she wasn’t busy with the church, Doris enjoyed playing cards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
