Doris E. O’Neil, 97, of East Liberty, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at Walnut Crossing of Marysville.
She graduated from West Mansfield High School where she played on the girl’s basketball team. While she was with her husband stationed in Orlando, Fla., she worked disassembling old bombers. Upon returning home, she went to work at the Harding Machine Screw Company until her retirement.
A member of the Middleburg United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Born Jan. 9, 1923, in West Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Elza and Ethel (Bell) Weber. On Jan. 3, 1942 in York, S.C., she married her husband of over 60 years, Clyde James O’Neil and he preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher E. O’Neil on Dec. 24, 1997 and a brother, Bill Weber.
Doris is survived by her sons, Clyde Richard (Marsha) O’Neil of Portland, Ore., Rev. Paul (Patsy) O’Neil of Huntsville, Ala., and Gary (Kathryn) O’Neil of Marysville; grandchildren, Faith, Patience, Sean, Charity, Ryan, Megan and Colin; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a nearly lifelong friend, Joann Hines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Middleburg United Methodist Church. Pastor Carolyn Christman will officiate and burial will follow at the Middleburg Cemetery next to her husband and son. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being handled for the family by Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville.
