The Logan County Farmers market is looking ahead to its 2018 season under the direction of new manager, Karla Kauffman, who takes over from Chloe Manor.
The market board includes Alyssa Rice, president; Alan Kauffman, vice president; Amanda Kerns, secretary; Jan Dawson, treasurer; and Don Jones, Beth Miller, jordan Morgan, Chris Westhoff, Hannah Wischmeyer and Joel Wish.
The past season saw 25 vendors and some 900 people attended each week.
More than 400 children signed up for the Power of Produce program and cooking demonstrations and farm tours were added this year.
Internships were provided for two operations which plan to be part of the market in 2018.
While “thrilled” to be named the “Best Ohio Farmers Market” by Ohio Magazine, the local market is looking at the end of several substantial grants the market had obtained which helped with monetary resources to support three part-time staff members.
“The market has enough resources to fund our basics through the 2018 season,” Kauffman noted. “We are working to ensure that the local grant funding will continue. However, many grants do not offer support for ongoing operational management.”
