Donald F. Hamburger, 89, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2018, at Logan Acres Care Center.
He was born in Logan County on April 14, 1928, to the late Edger and Jessie M. Showalter Hamburger. He was also preceded in death by Ross and Josephine Lament of Huntsville who raised Don from a young age.
Don served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed in Alaska. He retired from Westinghouse after 38 years of work as a tool and die maker and machinist. In his spare time, Don enjoyed woodworking, working outside, hanging out in the shed, mowing his yard and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a member of Stony Creek Church of the Brethren.
Don is survived by his wife, Eleanor Blumenschein Hamburger, whom he married April 14, 1951, at Stony Creek Church of the Brethren in Bellefontaine; children, Lynda (John) Breidenbach of Arcadia, Fla., Debra May of Troy and Greg (Corey) Hamburger of West Mansfield; four grandchildren, Kaci Herndon, Kristi Hoxworth, Brooks May and Kendra May; five great-grandchildren and one more on the way.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4, as Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where the funeral begins at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5.
Pastor Wayne Downing officiates. Burial is in Philadelphia Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Logan County Honor Guard.
