Donald Blair Woodruff, 88, of North Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 in his home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1929, in Urbana, a son of the late Burleigh and Helen Blair Woodruff. He was a 1948 graduate of North Lewisburg High School. He served for more than 30 years as president of the North Lewisburg Village Council and he retired from the Champaign County Engineer’s Department as a supervisor. In the past, he also worked at the Arthur IGA in North Lewisburg and was a car salesman for both White’s Ford and Brandeberry’s Chrysler Plymouth
Donald was a member of the North Lewisburg United Methodist Church and Mechanicsburg Lodge 13 F&AM for more than 60 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Lou (Robert) Nicholas of Urbana; sons, Dennis P. (Robin) Woodruff of Bellefontaine and Daniel W. (Debbie) Woodruff of North Lewisburg; grandchildren, Darcy (Jerry) Watkins, Beth Wilkins, Donnie Woodruff, Denton Woodruff, Cameron (Haley) Woodruff, Callie Woodruff, Devin (Bruce) McFadden and Dylon (Eva) Woodruff; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Brianna, Derek, Leah, Rylee, Rory, Bronson, Blair, Ella and Hudson and adopted in Love, Allison Harlan; sister, Diane (Robert) Davis of North Lewisburg; brother, Robert Dean Woodruff of Sebastian, Fla., sister-in-law, Kay Woodruff of North Lewisburg, as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors, includin, special nephews, Doug and David Lawson and Darren Woodruff, special friend, Donny Blue and the best neighbors in the world, Barry, Judy, Julie and Freddie.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Woodruff, siblings, Julia Mae Woods and John David Woodruff and a dear friend, John Stanhope.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg, following calling hours that begin at noon. Pastor Brad Angus officiates. Burial follows in the Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
