Trevor Zack Eakins, 25, of 217 Jefferson St., Quincy, was charged with domestic violence Friday after deputies first responded to his residence to serve him with papers.
Deputies said no one would answer the door at the residence, and while deputies were there, they noticed a front porch window was open and there was a shoeprint on the window as if someone had entered the residence through the window.
Deputies eventually were able to speak with Eakins through an open window, and they observed that he had a cut with dried blood above his left eye. He said he had been in an altercation the previous evening with his live-in girlfriend, Logan Elizabeth Smith, 24.
Deputies also spoke with Smith, and noted that she had extensive injuries to her face, neck and arms and that her left eye was partially swollen shut. Smith also was visibly shaking and had difficulty standing up.
She told deputies that she and Eakins had been at a bar the previous evening, and when they arrived home, he was heavily intoxicated. Smith said he allegedly put his hands around her neck and attempted to choke her, and he also put her on the floor and smacked and hit her.
He was lodged in the jail.
Business burglary investigated
Deputies responded about 9:30 a.m. Friday to the Downtown Discount Grocery, 155 S. Main St., Lakeview, on a report of a burglary that occurred overnight.
Employees reported that someone had forced entry to the store and had taken an empty safe from the office area. The employees noted that phone lines on the west side of the building also had been cut.
The break-in had been recorded by a store security camera, which captured two white male subjects carrying crowbars and pry tools about 4:50 a.m. Investigation continues.
