A dog owner was cited Sunday after her loose animal injured two young girls, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
Mikala L. Lykins, 19, of 1600 S. Detroit St., Apt. 46, was issued a summons for having a dog at large after officers responded to a report of a dog bite at 3 p.m. Sunday in her apartment complex.
The German shepherd dog, which was running loose, reportedly attacked Peyton K. Brown, 6, and when neighbor Charles Hengsteler went out to check the dog, it attempted to attack his 7-year-old granddaughter, Aleenah Collett.
The girls were not seriously injured, but the dog’s bite to the younger child drew blood, officers report.
Lykins, who was located in her apartment, was issued the summons and ordered to quarantine the animal for at least 10 days.
