Tabbitha Ritter, 25, of 121 W. Brown Ave., was charged Wednesday with cruelty to animals.
Around 2:15 p.m., officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to her former residence, 220 Lawrence St., after a dead dog was found inside.
She had left the dog there and did not adequately care for the animal, police report.
There was food, but no water inside the uninhabitable residence, nor were there any fans or cooling.
It had been more than a week since Ritter last visited the residence.
She was lodged in the Logan County Jail. She may face additional charges.
Motorist charged with reckless operation
James Powell, 33, of 429 N. Madriver St. was charged Sunday evening with reckless operation after he was observed driving 57 mph and weaving around slower traffic on south Main Street near Iron Avenue.
He was stopped at Walmart, 2281 S. Main St., and issued a citation.
