Dixie L. Hone, 75, of Zanesfield, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Logan Acres Care Center surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb 16, 1941, in Urbana, a daughter of Donald and Dorothy Knotts Pence. She was a member of Goshen Friends Church.
Her career began working in a grocery store in Urbana and later Grimes Aerospace, Tastee Freeze, and then she became co-owner of Hones Meat Market. She was a hospice volunteer for Universal Home Health & Hospice, and was an active massage therapist.
Dixie was loved by many and was generous with her time. She was a mother to the motherless and friend to the friendless.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Don E.; son, Donnie (Rhonda) Hone; daughter, Deena (Josh) O’Reilly; grandchildren, Heather, Joshua, Brittney, Kaley, Jackson, Caitlin (Robert), Alisha (Chris), Clayton (Larissa); great-grandchildren, Slayde, Lucas, Lexi, Finch, Porter and Royce; brother, Henry Morris (Linda) Pence; stepsister, Nancy (Tim) Walker; mother-in-law, Juanita Hone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, David Pence; her grandaughter, Sara Hone; brother-in-law Ronald Hone; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ward and Jean Green.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Jennings Farley Funeral Home, 5591 U.S. S. Route 68, West Liberty.
Pastor Wayne Downing officiates a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Goshen Friends Church, 5527 County Road 153, Zanesfield.
