Devin Nathaniel Marchal, 16, of West Liberty, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, as a result of an automobile crash in Champaign County.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Nov. 23, 2001, a son of Gary and Elizabeth Beckley Marchal who survive in West Liberty. He is also survived by two brothers, Treven and Jaden Marchal, both of West Liberty; two sisters, Ciera (Jeremy Jenkins) Marchal of Springfield and Kyerah Marchal of West Liberty; maternal grandparents, Randel (Lesa) Beckley of Raymond and Dorothy (Frank) Lewis of Marysville; paternal grandparents, James and Eileen Marchal of St. Paris; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; his girlfriend, Alexz Sabin of Springfield; his Scoutmasters, Tom Irick and Chuck Overly; and his Scout Troop 182 and St. Patrick Church Youth Group families.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Marchal in 1988; and his adopted grandparents, Don and Adele Detwiller.
Devin was a junior at West Liberty-Salem High School and was enrolled in the College Prep program through Wright State University. He also participated in the marching and concert bands and Science Olympiad. He was active in Boy Scouts, where he was working toward his Eagle Scout award. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was active in the youth group.
Devin will be remembered as a fun-loving student at West Liberty- Salem who enjoyed spending time and having fun with his friends.
He left his imprints on the world and brought all of us along on his journey.

Visitation is from 1:30 to 3:30 and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty. Burial is in St. Elizabeth Cemetery (Piatt Cemetery), Monroe Township. A West Liberty-Salem Band Foot Steps Memorial Celebration will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 13, at the West Liberty-Salem band practice field.
