Zachary J. Potter, 36, of 11170 Oneida Path, Lakeview, was charged Monday with grand theft of a firearm and felony receiving stolen property, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
He allegedly stole a pump shotgun from his mother and sold it to a named male suspect for $300. As deputies were investigating the theft by talking to the suspect and a woman who drove Potter to Bellefontaine for the sale, they learned the shotgun had been returned to Potter’s mother.
Deputies have referred the case to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of charges.
Potter remains in the Logan County Jail on the charges and a failure to appear warrant.
Teen lodged in JDC
Jalynn Smith, 15, of 10410 Township Road 160, North Lewisburg, was charged Tuesday with delinquency counts of domestic violence and persistent disorderly conduct.
Deputies were called to the residence shortly before midnight Monday and talked with Mindy Smith. She told them her daughter struggled with her over a cellular phone Jalynn had acquired without her parent’s knowledge.
During the struggle, Jalynn allegedly struck her mother twice in the face. The mother left to return another phone Jalynn had stolen from a neighbor and when she returned the teenager was gone.
She was soon found at a residence in Champaign County and taken into custody. She was lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center.
Woman jailed for disorderly actions
Maria R. Thomas, 57, of 1014 Alpine Valley Road, Valley Hi, was arrested Monday for disorderly conduct.
Deputies responded to her home around 6:35 p.m. after family members called the office with concerns about her wellbeing.
She was belligerent and uncooperative with deputies. She was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
