Dennis C. “Denny” Davenport, 70, of Lakeview, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while in Englewood, Fla.
Denny was born April 22, 1947, in Lima, a son of the late Richard and Lucille Andonian Davenport. He is also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Davenport Jr.
On June 27, 1987, he married the love of his life and best friend, Susan Furr in Lima, and she survives, along with five children, Scott (Cheyenne) Davenport, Jamie (Scott) Tenney and Kellie (Tom Craft) Sexton, all of Lima, Gene Sexton of Ada and Lisa (Jeff) Abicht of Westland, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, Scottie Davenport, Colton Crabtree, Andrea Reed, Tyler Brenner, Jordyn and Noah Tenney, Michael Ball, Kylie and Kacie Craft, Dillan and Denny Davenport, Kristen Omilion and Madeline and Gillian, Allie and Adrien Abicht, 10 great-grandchildren; Michelle, Scottie and Ryleigh Davenport, Kristina Wilmoth, Carter and Aryiah Ball, Dylan Short, Adelina and Brealyn Brenner and Isla Omilion; one sister; Karyn Crider of Lima; specials friends, Scott and Michelle McClain; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dan and Vicki Lawson and Russ and Phyllis Conner.
Denny was a 1965 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He worked 30 years at Textron and 11 years at Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 before retiring. Denny was a member of Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533, Kenton Moose Lodge 428, Troy Moose Lodge 2695, Miami Valley Legion Post 103, Indian Lake Eagles 3615 and Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39.
He enjoyed fishing, boating and showing off his cars in car shows. He loved being with family and friends and playing with his grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, where calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, with Moose services at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to services Saturday.
