Delores R. Sanborn, 84, of DeGraff, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, in her residence.
Born Feb. 27, 1933 in Cairo, Ohio, she was the youngest of five daughters born to Walter and Rema Clow Grubb. As a young girl, Dee helped her father in West Liberty’s local greenhouse, owned and operated by their family. At age 19, she married her sweetheart and love of her life, William “Bill” Sanborn on April 17, 1952, with whom she raised five children. Dee worked for many years as a telephone operator for United Telephone-Century Link, retiring from there in the early 1980s. Throughout her life, she poured her creative, skillful passions for cooking, gardening and sewing into blessings for her family and others. Dee was a beloved example of a Proverbs 31 woman and greatly loved the Lord.
Always giving and encouraging, Dee was a friend, teacher, mentor and role model to many. Someone who loved to laugh and play card games with family and friends, she has forever imparted a treasure of many joyful, humorous memories to all who were ever her partners in bid euchre. Dee was an avid book reader, studier of the Bible and crafty in quilting, sewing and crocheting. A dear woman, who enjoyed life and leaves behind a legacy of love to her husband, family and many others.
Celebrating her life and memory are her husband of 65 years, Bill; children Becky (Tom) Bechtel, Bob (Carol) Sanborn, Belinda (Mike Elflein) Copas, Brenda (Phillip) Snapp and Brad (Angie) Sanborn; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and her dear sister-in-law, Linda Carroll.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Betty Foster, Jean VanSant, Mary Hook and Joanne Hughes.
A celebration of life service begins at noon Friday, Dec. 15, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
