Delores Josephine “Dee” Shepherd, 86, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 7:54 p.m. Friday, Nov.11, 2016, at her home with family at her side.
She was born in Lima on Aug. 12, 1930, to the late William and Rosetta Sellers Mawhorr.
On Dec.11, 1947, she married Melvin Eugene “Bus” Shepherd in Covington, Ky., and he preceded her in death Feb.13, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Roger Shepherd, who was killed in action Nov. 1, 1968, while serving in Vietnam, and John Shepherd of Bellefontaine, who died Nov. 8, 2013.
Dee is survived by one son, Mark (Heather) Shepherd of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, Roger (Maggie) Shepherd, Ashley Shepherd, Ken (Tiffany) Shepherd, Jeff Adams, Alisa (Marc) Adams, Kadance Shepherd and Jackson Shepherd; nine great-grandchildren, Matix and Cassidy Shepherd, Blair Carroll and Cannon Crawford, Kylie Adams, Reggie and Porter Shepherd and Ethan and Katelyn Cordle; friend, Teal Allen and family, Jamie Price, Summer, Candice (David) Kirkpatrick, Austin, Sierra, Jonathan (Sara) Allen, and Makinnly and Caden.
Dee was the last of 10 children, preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, William and Phillip Mawharr; and five sisters, Marion Wilson, Ester Bowerman, Paulene McGinnis, Frances Tulles and Alice Roeder.
She retired from Siemens in 1992, after 25 years of service.
Visitation is an hour prior to the 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, funeral service at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funearl Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Pastor Brad Angus officiates the service honoring her life. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
