Delmar “Dean” Cox Jr., 57, of Kenton, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at his residence.
He was born June 30, 1959, in Bellefontaine to Delmar Sr. and Tempa Holycross Cox of West Liberty.
On Aug. 5, 1999, he married Heather Warmbrod and she survives in Kenton. Also surviving are his five sons, Matt Cox, Nathan (Peggan) Cox, Eric (Annalee) Sprang and Reid (Andrea) Tracy, all of Kenton, and Austin (Haley) Sprang of Dunkirk; one daughter, Ashley (Brandon) Vermillion of Belle Center; 10 grandchildren, Jake, Riley, Alexus, Matt Jr., Case, Abel, Ellie, Aisley, Trinity and Rayden and one grandchild on the way; four sisters, Sue (Vern) Yelton of Huntsville, Judy (Bob) Culp of Rushsylvania and Juanita (Joe) Shoemaker, both of Rushsylvania, and Deb (Greg) Vickers of Bellefontaine; three brothers, Larry (Judi) Cox of Alabama and Terry Cox and Jerry Cox, both of Bellefontaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Cox.
He worked at Golden Giant for more than 25 years.
Dean enjoyed working on cars in his shop and watching NASCAR, and if he wasn’t doing that he would be playing solitaire. The true joy of his life were his grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren dearly and would spend as much time with them as he could.
A gathering of friends and family is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Goshen Friends Church in Zanesfield. It was his wish to be cremated. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is handling the arrangements.
