Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and Riverside EMS personnel were dispatched about 7:25 p.m. Saturday to 210 N. Koke St., DeGraff, on a report of an unresponsive man.
Derrick E. Triplett, 25, of that address, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies report that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
The Logan County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, and continues to investigate.
Father charged with domestic violence
Jarrett D. Kopus, 37, of 112 S. Koke St., DeGraff, was charged with domestic violence Saturday and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Deputies received a report about 9:25 a.m. Saturday from Mr. Kopus’ 12-year-old daughter. She reported that the previous evening, she went to her aunt’s house in DeGraff, and did not tell her father because he was at an area bar.
She said when he showed up later that night at her aunt’s house, he allegedly slapped her in the mouth. A witness had recorded the incident on a cell phone and provided the recording to deputies. The 12-year-old reportedly sustained minor injuries.
The defendant was located Saturday afternoon at his address and was placed under arrest. Caseworkers with Logan County Children’s Services also were contacted.
Summons issued for theft
Sara J. Rhoades, 22, of 6839 W. State Route 274, Huntsville, was issued a summons for theft Thursday following an investigation into a complaint received from her ex-husband.
Dillon L. Rhoades, 30, reported in late May that his ex-wife had his child support debit card and had used it to make several purchases without his permission. Following a records check, deputies found that the debit card had been used at the Oasis Drive Thru, along with possible use at a Dollar General, Huntsville Marathon and Lugnuts.
Weekend OVI charges issued
Cindy Cox, 59, of 901 Township Road 51, Belle Center, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was issued a marked lanes citation following a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
Deputies on patrol in the area of T.R. 51 near County Road 112 observed a marked lanes violation about 1:25 a.m. and initiated a traffic stop with her vehicle.
Deputies observed that she displayed signs of intoxication and she submitted to a field sobriety test. At the Logan County Jail, she tested a 0.132 blood alcohol content level.
• Donald E. McLees, 55, of New Carlisle, was charged with OVI, and was issued summonses for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop Saturday in Bellefontaine.
A deputy on his way to work about 1:50 p.m. reportedly observed the vehicle make a left of center violation and issued a traffic stop on east Sandusky Avenue at Park Street. The driver showed signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were conducted.
An inventory was conducted of the vehicle, and deputies recovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The defendant was transported to the jail, where he tested a 0.188 blood alcohol content level and was released to a sober person. He also was cited for driving left of center.
Deputies report that he had two prior OVI convictions.
