The Nick Davis for State Rep campaign took a bus full of supporters from Logan, Shelby, and Champaign counties to attend Donald Trump’s first post-presidency rally Saturday at the Lorain County Fairgrounds near Cleveland.
The event was one of the first for Davis’ campaign following the announcement of his candidacy for state representative May 24. The lifelong Logan County resident was the first declared candidate for the Republican nomination for a seat opening up in the 85th House District up due to term limits.
The primary election is slated for May 3, 2022, and the 85th House District currently includes all of Champaign County, most of Logan County and the eastern portion of Shelby County. District lines are expected to change in 2022 due to redistricting.
A graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School and Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Davis served for nearly three years in President Trump’s administration, traveling the country with President Trump, vice president and multiple Senate-confirmed cabinet members.
“I am very excited to hopefully earn the opportunity to represent the people of this special part of Ohio,” he said.
“Having grown up here in West-Central Ohio and served President Trump, I understand the values, but also the challenges, of this area. Our community is centered around faith, family, and friendship. We fight for what’s right and we take care of each other.”
Davis also graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Natural Resource Management. As a Buckeye, he founded and led Students for Trump at Ohio State, growing it to be the largest pro-Trump student group in Ohio.
The candidate related that attending Saturday’s rally among 22,000 people was a positive way to kick off his campaign.
“The atmosphere was incredibly energetic and enthusiastic. The Trump movement was really founded on love: love for each other, love for American values, and love for this country.
“The people are glad to see President Trump working again on behalf of the American people to take back the House and Senate to continue the successes of the Trump agenda.”
Continuing that momentum, Davis explained some of his focus and priority issues for his district.
“I want the focus of our campaign to be on fighting for the Right to Life and gun rights, bringing better energy infrastructure to our district, and economic development
“Small businesses are the backbone of all communities and I want to ensure that they are provided opportunity, including low taxes and few regulations, to succeed and bring prosperity to the people of Logan, Shelby and Champaign Counties.”
Davis said he also wants to build better career technical education opportunities for students, enhance the energy infrastructure with natural gas, and to make adoption for qualified families as easy and effective as possible.
“As one of four adopted children in my family, adoption and being pro-life is the foundation of my family. Every child should be guaranteed the right to life and have the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.”
