David Michael Beard, 65, of Wapakoneta, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health Systems under hospice care.
David was born Oct. 10, 1952, in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Richard M. Beard and of Ruth L. Smith Beard, who survives in Jackson Center.
On April 4, 1972, he married Cathy Keith in Monroe, Mich., and she survives along with three children, David (Stephanie) Beard of St. Marys, Joshua Beard of Bellefontaine and Alison Beard of Wapakoneta; four grandchildren, Austin and Kirstin Beard of Wapakoneta and Mackenzie and Greenlee Beard of St. Marys; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Beard and Madeline Fleck, both of Wapakoneta; two sisters, Barbara (Ken) Gloyeske of Jackson Center and Diane (Jon) Gillespie of Indian Lake; seven brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Carolyn) Silye of Lima, Karen (Neil) Shroyer of Wapakoneta, Sandra Brandehoff-Smith of Dublin, Craig (Jaime) Keith of Lima, James Keith of Texas and Sheryl (George) Dishman and Sharon Keith, both of Fresno, Texas; three aunts, Carolyn (Danny) Daniel, Yvonne Smith and Wanda Schmidt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dave was a 1970 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He retired from Ford Motor Company Lima Engine Plant in 2007 after 33 years. In 2006, Dave obtained his real estate license. He was a member of the Wapakoneta First United Methodist Church and UAW in Lima. He was an avid sports fan and follower of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. Dave enjoyed sharing his love of music with others and would often DJ at class reunions and special events. He will be remembered for his quick wit and uncanny memory.
Pastor Karen Blackburn begins funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, where visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 8, and an hour prior to the service. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
