David M. Young, 65, of West Liberty, passed away at 12:23 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center.
He was born in Champaign County on Sept. 3, 1952, to the late Elmer Lewis Young and Mary Winkhart Young, who survives in Urbana.
He also is survived by his children, Scott Young, Mindy Young, Bradley Young, Brandy Young, Emma Spencer, David Young and Michelle Young; grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, Damen, Isaac and one on the way; siblings, Deb (Buck) Wallace, Terry (Ron) Vanest, Mary Vest, Mark (Janet) Young, Kim Young and Brenda (Eric) Knepper; many nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Petey.
David retired from NEX in 2016. He loved to golf and bowl with his two older sons and spend time with all his grandsons. David loved to help his older grandchildren with their fair projects and would help set up their pens at the fair. He loved to give everyone at the fair “Hell.” David grew up on a farm and loved farming. He would spend time helping Vic Klingelhofer set up at the Five Points in DeGraff and anywhere else he was going to cater. David just had a desire to help everyone and enjoyed spending time with all his family and friends.
Pastor Nate Wilcoxon officiates a memorial service at 6 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the West Liberty First Church of God, 315 Liberty St., West Liberty, where visitation begins at 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty assisted the family with arrangements.
